Could it be that he shows little to no curiosity about the world, or indeed, much curiosity about anything? Could it be that he regards reading only slightly lower than the idea of having the plague? Or how about his complete inability to speak intelligently in English?

Because we've come to expect our highest politicians to be gifted public speakers. Bush unfortunately is a poor orator.
However, when Bush is seen in a one on one interview, he demonstrates that he has thoroughly thought thru the issues and has an excellent grasp of the situation and historical perspectives. Unfortunatly, those interviews don't make good 30 second sound bites.
Plus the elite liberal snobs think all of us conservatives are just bible thumping dumb hayseeds. They can't fathom how any intelligent person could believe other than they do.
PS....Tommy G is right. The liberals have underestimated Bush so much that he has only won the Presidency twice and pretty much run the table for the last 6 years. I doubt a "dim" person could do that.

because a bright guy knows an idiot when he sees one, only an idiot would look at another idiot and think well gee that's a pretty smart guy there, the man doesn't talk, carry, or present himself like he has any brains about him what so ever, and considering his popularity polls are down to what right now? 30% or somewhere around there? so the rest of the world that thinks he isn't doing such a good job is at around 70% obviously, I am quite sure a lot of those people that don't think he is doing such a good job probably also think he is an idiot or not so bright as you would say, so what makes you think that he is a very bright person?

Bush comes across that way because that is what sells him to middle America.
Bush entire Presidency is a carefully scripted image.

Image to appeal to the average Joe and Jane or Jacques and Jean. In reality, Bush is not dumb. He went to Yale and received his master's from Harvard U, yes thanks to family connections. Yet to relate to the common folks around the world he has adapted a simple minded approach to make his world power easily accepted by those who toil 40 to 59 hours a week in meaningless humdrum jobs.

Well, he was smart enough to avoid Vietnam, but dumb enough to make another. Maybe if he had served in Vietnam, instead of dodging, he would have a better grasp on the concept of war.

1. He is not a great speaker.
2. He does not think well on his feet.
3. Compared to Clinton, he is a horrible speaker.
4. Leaders you refer to are liberals who hate conservatives. Liberals cannot debate logic, so they take cheap shots.
