I have heard of scams but not sure how they work where they offer you a lot more than item is worth so i am a bit dubious of this offer.

Any offer than comes outside of the auction is not only against rules, but is a scam. Let the auction play out. If they want to bid more, let them do it within the confines of the auction.

these scams have been around a long time

Since most regular ebay users have a paypal account this information may be very valuable. It will present itself in a very official email of the receipt of a paypal payment from your account. When you open it , a very authentic looking paypal statement will appear. It will be for an item that you havent bought or even looked at, and will be for a more than nominal amount. On this invoice there will be a button that states if you did not pay for this item click here, on the premise that you will be opening a dispute. The next page you will see will be a VERY authentic looking paypal login page-very familiar to all paypal users. After entering account, password and login button , you will land on an empty link and you may even backscreen and make another attempt. What you have essentially just done is furnish an unscrupulous individual with access to your paypal account and all banking items that may be linked to it, including a wealth of personal information. If you indeed fall into this trap you must immediately change your password. In doing this make sure you login with the link that is available on the left column of your my ebay page, as this is probably your most secure link. You should always access your paypal account from your ebay page.Keep in mind that these type of scams are very hard to detect and for the most part are originating outside the US, from cybercafes and untraceable IP addresses

What is the item? It could be a scam or it could be that they really really want the item. Could you provide a link to the item in question?

Were you offered the money off of eBay? If so, then it is probably a scam. If the bidders just upped the price to three times the value then it may be legitimate.

When people email you and offere you money to end the auction early and give you an amount out right..That means the item will sell higher than what they are asking and they are trying to get a deal.

Don't go for it..Just let the auction run. Even if the person who bids the highest doesn't pay you can send a second change over to the next lower bidder.

Hi, they will probaly ask you to deal with a 3rd party, You have to send the item and then send proof to the 3rd party and they will release the cash etc..

I was victim to this scam and lost alot!! I also contacted lots of people who had all had the same done to them on ebay, be careful!!

I would stay away from anything that even looks a little bit dodgy

DO NOT DEAL WITH NIGERIA!!! IT IS FRAUD!!!

Goodluck

Nope not weird at all, I sell on ebay and I cant belive the prices people are willing to pay for my item. That usally happens when 2 people are bidding on it at the same time, They just try to beat each others price so they can win the item

The scams work by offering large amounts for items and then they want to pay via WESTERN UNION MONEY TRANSFER. Dont do it - the money shows as cleared before it actually is - you send the item and sometimes any excess money if their clever - then they stop the payment so you lose the money and the item. xx

It could possibly be the scam where they try to send you a counterfeit check, cashiers check, or bank account, so that you ship the item, plus do a refund to them, and then you lose everything while they keep it all outside the country!

I would definitely IGNORE their offer, PLUS, report it to ebay.

well if they give ya the money thru paypal which is the safest way then its cool once the money is in your bank account then send the item, but they will prpably tell you to send the item and give them the postal number. so dont bother comunicating with them.
and they will prpably tell you to send to nigeria or somthing

relies upon if the charges have been severe. it is your call. If it is merely some kilos then i might supply her the refund for the sake of your remarks. If it is over £10 i might ask her to pay those besides. If she refuses then i wouldn't supply her the refund. you may desire to be careful nevertheless. Did you deliver it recorded? if so she had to sign for it, if no longer she ought to lie and say she in no way gained it. i've got had that achieved to me previously. she will have the means to get the completed money returned and not ought to pay something to you.
