she really overegsagerattes with moaning and crying when shes not feeling well, or even if she doesnt want to go to something she wants to get out of. I feel bad cause I dont want her to bs me, but just in case she really is sick...i would feel bad. If i tell her Im making a doc appointment, shes usually better by the time I can get her in. How can you tell the difference?

It might not be that she is sick. She might just have some emotional issues in her life that are upsetting her. Just talk to her about it and try to hang out with her more until she will open up to you. All you can do right now is be her best bud.

First off, take her temperature - if there is some sort of infection it shows up there. Look for physical signs such as vomiting etc. Keep taking her to the Dr. even if she gets better. Better still send her to school and tell her you are making the apt. and will pick her up in time for it. The fact she has miraculous recoveries when faced with going to a Dr. tells you something. If nothing else you are calling her bluff. Drama for Drama "Oh I couldnt let you be this sick without taking you to the Dr. What kind of Mother would I be? Even if you feel better now what will I do if you get ill again, its just not NORMAL" etc. Try not to laugh.

If she consistently gets better then she's probably faking it. Offer her some disgusting remedy, like Alka-Seltzer. Or just tell her that she's going to school or going to do whatever it is she doesn't want to do no matter what. If she is really sick you'll be able to tell--she'll have a fever or won't be able to be so dramatic. Really sick people don't have the energy to be drama queens.

In the real world, people have to go to work sick or hurt. She has to realize that.
I would say that unless there is a high fever, or physical evidence like a broken bone, etc. she should still have to go to school. If it is a "monthly problem" schedule an appointment with a gynecologist.

First off she might be like you said. But take her temp and give her some meds. Also she might really need rest b/c when I was younger i wasn't sick but i just felt really down and need alot of rest so just let her be. Being a teen is stressful but im not on her side I just remember how it was when I was in school.

Make her go to school if it's becoming a problem. If she's really sick, she'll go to the nurse. And if you have to pick her up, then tell her that you're going to the doctor's right away. And if she says she is better, tell her she is going anyway. Just make her go to school. And don't let her refuse to go to the doctor. Then if she is faking, not only will you know, but you get to call her bluff. =D!

I never had such a problem because I paid attention to the way my daughter acted when she WAS sick as a child. As a teen I always knew when she was faking. I guess you've sort of missed the boat on that one.

you really need to teach her that this moaning thing isnt getting her anywhere which by the way you should have aught her along time ago but i wont rag on your parenting i am not a parent so icantpretend iknow what itslike , but anyway youneed toteahc her to be a successful adult she would have to learn to communicate with words next time she tries to whine ignore every word she says until she can speak like an adult and explainto her that you will no respond to her until she calms down and uses her words.

If your daughter gets up one morning and is sick, take her temperature and if its normal tell her to stay in bed..play along with her and don't let her do ANYTHING all day...after school is out and she wants to go out tell her "NO " because you don't want her to get sicker. If that doesnt help tell her to stay in her bedroom untill she can feel better enough to go to school and stick with it
