You might as well ask, "What if I used a trampoline to jump to the moon?" Both are prevented from happening by at least fairly well-understood laws of physics. Backward travel in time requires a mass to exceed the speed of light, which requires greater than infinite energy, and just infinite energy is far more than is available in all of our entire universe.
Tho you can bet, were some circumvention found in the future, along with it would come a perfectly logical and non-contradictory theory to predict the outcome.

Those who argue 'against' time travel always use that argument, but it's faulty. In reality, causality is not how we perceive it; in reality, the effect PRECEDES the cause. When you go kill your younger self or your parents, you will still exist. In other words, YOU become, so your parents had to come together to have you, and not the other way around. Same goes for your younger self; he existed only cuz you are alive and not the other way around. So, either way, you will still continue to exist.

Not really, because if you kill yourself your younger self dies and that's it. It's not like you won't be able to live longer and eventually go back in time to kill yourself.

relies upon on your jurisdiction. the example you describe is fantastically black and white and the guy probably would not be charged. no count number if that is form of greater gray, the guy could be charged yet decide directly to apply the affirmative protection of self-protection (you admit you killed somebody yet did it in self-protection). the standards for utilising this protection variety broadly.

Since we can't go back in time (and never will be able to), it is not an issue.
