It floats on the water! It doesn't have anywhere to go at night, so it's out there 24 -7. Usually comes near land during strong on-shore winds.

I live in Texas, and we get these along the Gulf shore a lot. The park rangers usually put up warning signs when there's a problem with the Man O' War coming into swimming areas. Kids like to pop them with a stick when they're washed up.

Neither. They just float around, pushed by the wind and currents.Their poisonous tentacles will sting prey (or you) any time, day or night.

They are jellyfish that drift.....I don't know anything apart from the fact the one that stung me was in the evening...dusk and it HURT !!!!
