i just got done watching the show and tried to look up that prison but i can't remember the name and vh1 hasn't updated the site yet since it hasn't played in all the time zones yet...what was the guard's name and what was the real name of the prison? nothing came up when i searched for a prison nicknamed the walls

hunny i did look it up, on the show's website and it isn't updated yet. i looked all over for any info on the name and everything.

"The Walls" is actually in Memphis, TN. It's the old Tennessee State Penitentiary. I remember going there a couple times as a child in the mid-to-late '70's to visit my uncle, and it was spooky then. I can only imagine how creepy it is now!

The only thing that I can find on google about a prison in the south being nicknamed "The Walls" is Huntsville Prison in Huntsville, Texas but it's still a working prison to this day so they couldn't have visited that prison.
I haven't seen the episode yet but it's entirely possible that they're lying where this was filmed just to build some dramatic effect for the celebs visiting this jail.

I know this is an old post however it is the Tennessee State Prison located on Centennial avenue about 3 mins from my house. It was closed in 1992.

The prison wardens name that got killed was Tom Grisholm. I couldn't find the real name of the prison anywhere. They just call it "The Walls". If I find anything I'll repost it.
