We have owned this fridge for only 4.5 yrs and it has started to make a really loud popping noise. It started off as just one pop and now it does three consecutive pops - poppoppop.
Any idea why it is doing this and how to fix it? We've already checked that the ice maker is turned off.

lol,,,,,help is on the way,,,i am assuming you have an ice maker in it , the heater is down in your ice maker and ever time it make a tray of ice it is having to pop the ice out causing the noise you described,, you need the ice maker replaced,, it will eventually break down on its own , but its not really your refrigerator making the noise its the ice maker, ,,so just get it changed and all should be fine,,,hope this helps,,,good luck,,,,even turned off ,, the module is more than likely stripped and id bet it is still the ice maker,,, especially if it seems to be about every 45 min, when it happens, its to much on time ,,, ,,,good luck

Is this when it cuts off? maybe the compressor making the noise. You said 45 min, Is that a set time and does it every time? Your Kenmore may have a 45 min defrost cycle and what you hearing is the heat strips melting ice, Or a short in the heating element itseld making the noise. I'll keep thinking about this and add notes if I come up with anything else

Something (a panel) or such is probably in a bind in your freezer section and when it reaches a certain temp. it is releasing tension. A box that is a few years old endures extreme stress in the freezer section from the heater for automatic defrost and then freezing again and this can sometimes deform the shape of the heater or panels.

Sounds like your loosing flame. Could be the noise is the flame going out, then back on. Could also be the thermostat igniting the gas. Wouldn't hurt to have a professional examine your range.
