can you possibly put a little more detail???
you say, "when you downloaded it", so obviously it was validated 1st, (as they usually do).
you may have another problem, "if it is a legal copy of windows".

If you have a legit copy of WinXp then you need to validate it at the microsoft website. If it is a copied version don't bother as it is not legit nor will you be able to receive downloads from microsoft.

I Downloaded it just fine. I have windows XP. Is that what you have. I have to be honest though....I regret doing it. I miss the old internet soooo bad. If there was a way to go back that would not take alllll day, I would do it. It also slowed my computer net down, instead of speeding it up as it claimed to do. I may be on my own here, but that was my opinion.

So, run http://getfirefox.com
Microsoft has built into their OS and browsers so many BACK DOORs that their "trusted Partners" pay to have access to, that it is a HUGE pile of pop-ups, DRM, privacy invasion, data theft, and other crap!
Microsoft runs all 45,000 computers and servers, Aruba firewall/routers, Microsoft.com, hotmail.com, MSN.com, and Linux Lab 400 systems on Linux. Virus proof.
