I used to be employed at this store. I had a fallout with a ex-coworker since her DISOBEDIENT and UNRULY child played with my mace. Since then I tried to work things like a mature adult. She acted a fool and I left it alone. Since then she has told other employees and customers that I am stalking her. I do NOT know where she lives. I just go to that store from time to time. I have NEVER followed her or anything. Now she is telling management the same BS. I want to know what can I do to clear my name legally.

It is a costly process going through the court system, but I would still go and see a lawyer. He could send her an official letter saying she is defaming you and if it doesnt stop then you will take her to court. She would probably get the shock of her life because she wouldnt think you would take it that far. I think she would have to stop. I would also go to Management and tell them that she is a trouble maker and is spreading vicious rumours and they need to stop her, especially while she is working because she is giving the store a bad reputation. You could even tell them you are going to take it further because what she is doing is illegal, and what company wants bad publicity.

I don't know if you can sue her for defamation of character. You would have to prove how and to what extent you have suffered, as a direct result of what she has said. That is very difficult.
I would call the manager of the store and arrange a meeting with him/her in person. Explain how upsetting this is to you, and you wanted to clear the air and tell your side. Although you are no longer employed at that store, you would still like to continue to be a customer. Tell the manager you, AS A CUSTOMER, don't appreciate the harrassment you're getting from this employee, and you hope you and the manager can meet in the middle to resolve this.
The manager will soil him/herself and will have to address this problem with the employee. If it doesn't happen, contact the district manager. Going over heads works wonders.
