No. Alimony is deductible but Child Support is not.

What's more, Child Support doesn't get claimed as income on taxes.

Where was your order made? If in Canada, it would depend on the year your support order was entered. For example, if the support order was made before 1996 (I believe), the child support is taxable to the recipient. If the order was made later or more recently, the support is taxable for the payor. Of course, if your order was entered in Ireland, Ireland laws would be applicable. That I can't help you with.

Child support is not deductible in the US--but if it is ordered as "Family Support" then yes-it would qualify just as spousal maintenance does.
