but is there a way to control what you dream? last night i had a good dream, but it was about my babies' father, and i do not want to have any dreams about him, especially good ones. for some reason, when i have dreams like that, i start to miss him. is that normal? is there something i can do to ensure i don't dream about him?

Well dreams come from the subconsciousness and you really can't control that however, some experts argue that you dream what you think about so if you think about your babies daddy all the time then you will most likely think about him. Try to think about something that makes you happy before you go to bed and that just might give you better dreams. Good luck hope this help's.

Obviously the unresolved issues you have with your baby's daddy are weighing on your mind and your subconcious. Combined with the variety of stresses/stessors of everyday life and including a child, the baby daddy issues are creeping into your rest. Take care to resolve these issues so you can get on with the rest of your life. Your child will resent a crazy, baby daddy possessed mother once he/she grows up and starts comparing notes with other children!
As far as controlling your dreams, you may want to try meditating before you fall asleep or even reading. Nothing too serious. Playing with your child may even help; however, don't be alarmed if that triggers dreams about the child's father!

It's normal to dream about him. Your baby is a huge change in your life and I would guess you loved his father once (or still?) There are no sure ways to prevent you from dreaming from him but I found that one dreams about exciting / big things that happened. So either you take a sleeping pill that gives you a dreamless "knock me out" sleep or you make sure there are other exciting things in your life that your mind can be occupied with. Good luck and all the best for you and your baby.

You cannot control control your dreams, but you can still control your thoughts when you're awake. Yep, it's absolutely normal that dreams may provoke feelings.

You can't control your dreams, but you can influence them, play classical music while you sleep, Mozart is best, you will see a difference in your dreams.

Yes it is normal. The two of you share a child, therefore you share a bond. If you miss him, than you probably still have feelings for him that only finding someone else to love will alleviate. Best wishes.
