And if you do, I already have iTunes. But I don't want to get an ipod then throw $3.00 on 2 songs. Do you need to pay for songs to use iTunes on an ipod? Or can I just download songs from limewire?

You can bring songs downloaded from limewire to iTunes by clicking File>Add File to Library and then just pick the songs you want into iTunes. And yes, you need iTunes to get songs to your iPod.

You can upload songs from a CD and buy them but yes you do need Itunes for both of those. The ipod should have came with the itunes software if not you can go to itunes.com and download the latest application. I personally like itunes to manage my music, it makes it pretty easy! You can still download songs from limewire just make sure that you convert them over to itunes...You can do that in the file menu and there is a place where is says, 'import tunes' or something along those lines!

No you don't. You do need the iTunes player though, to get them onto your ipod. There are several ways to get around it, but I found this one the easiest in the long run. Here's what you do:

go to: start>set program acess and defaults>
it should come up "choose a configuration">custom>click the arrow and it will drop down.
Scroll down a bit and you will come to "choose a default media player" choose iTunes.
If you already have limewire, then go to the top tab "tools">options>player>uncheck the box that says to use limewire player>restart your computer.

Now all your songs will be in iTunes format and you don't have to worry about converting anything. Just download from limewire, double click the song and iTunes opens up, drag and drop to your playlist.

NOTE: Keep your virus protection updated. ALL P2P (bearshare included) has viruses, so protect your computer!

I don't use Limewire but I pay a fee (a small amount) every 2 years for unlimited downloads from itunes, so you can download as many as you can every day! You just need to hook up your ipod to the computer and syncronize the music files! It's so easy and convenient....

You can download them off of a program and still put them on your ipod. You just have to drag the files into itunes and then you're good!

You can download songs from most resources onto your iPod, not just from iTunes. I can't tell you whether to pay for songs or not - not to pay may be illegal. I download songs onto my iPod from a great many sources besides iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, Napster, etc. You can use the USB cable that connects to your PC to the iPod to make the connection to the Internet..
