Maybe you need to do a tuneup, and check some parts for wear. Like change plugs, and wires, and cap and rotor, if equipped. Good luck. Best to tell what you have too.

This used to happen to me in my car, as well. The problem with my car, though, was not that it needed a tune-up, but that the alternator was going out. This affects the electrical system, and will cause the jerking that you're talking about. If the problem continues and you continue to drive without having done anything, your radio and lights will eventually go out, and your car will die due to the interrupted circuit. I would reccomend taking your car to a Pepboy's or a Checker Auto because these places offer free alternator testing which can diagnose your problem. (If you need to take the alternator off yourself, it really is not that hard. There should be about four bolts that you have to take out, and that's it.) Good luck!

Could be a fuel filter that is long over due changing (about $10 for the filter) to buy. Some auto parts stores do a free trouble shooting if you have a check engine light. Could be water in your gas, a dirty fuel injector, old spark plugs, a bottle of fuel injector cleaner when you fill up can't hurt. Best of luck

I ALWAYS say this to anybody asking for automotive advice, and I say it again. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS state the year, make and model of vehicle you are referring to. The symptom you describe, can be caused by numerous things. I love these guys that come on here to tell you "it needs distributor cap, wires, plugs, rotor". These guys obviously don't have a clue. Is your vehicle upshifting or downshifting when the condition occurs? Is your "check engine" light on? These are just a few questions to ask before any QUALITY answer to your concern can be provided. If this is a Ford product, you can E-mail me directly, with a more detailed account of your concern.
