For me it is not whether she can sing or not or how moral or immoral her life is or has been. But about talent. Does she write well enough that her books would be published IF she wasn't already famous? Would any publisher take her seriously if she was a 'nobody' trying to get a start in the writing industry? My guess, no. Comparatively speaking how well are her books written when held up with other writers. There are hundreds if not thousands of picture books published each year. Some good. Some bad. Most mediocre. The only problem I would have with her books being published along with everyone else's is this: bookstores--especially chain bookstores as opposed to independent ones--are at least 90% more likely to stock her books on their shelves (and in plentiful supply) as opposed to stocking some of the higher quality books but by writers without as much name recognition. So her books are being stocked (and perhaps being bought by consumers) not because of her literary talent but because she is a celebrity.

I was very up in the air about her as a childrens writer until one day at the library my daughter brought the first book to me "English Rose" I believe it was called and asked to check it out we did and it was a good book with a good moral meaning...As for her past and the book Truth or Dare I think that everyone has a past so peoples are more public then others the book my have been very sexual but it had a real artstic feel even with the making out....When and if you have children are you going to hide everything you ever did from them? What if you can't they find out on their own. Never regret your past it made you who you are today!!

I've looked at 3 of the books. Although I don't think she is the greatest children's book author, she is teaching a value in each one. I admire that. And all the proceeds go to an organization called the Spirituality for Kids Foundation. I think that she has matured with motherhood, and she is constantly finding ways to broaden her creative outlet. I think it's very positive.

i'd have to check out the books, but i don't see a problem with it. so she also wrote an adult book--so what? you know, ALL parents had sex at one time or another. an adult's sex life has no bearing on whether or not that person can write children's literature, provided the adult isn't trying to include children in said sex life. so long as the book isn't about a little girl with a cone-shaped bra discovering sexuality--which i am sure isn't the case--she should write her heart out. your question makes you sound quite prudish and closed-minded. i shudder to think what you teach your kids about sex. only missionary, and only in marriage, right? sad...

I think it's excellent. Why should she, or anyone, be defined by what she is 'known' for? Anyone can do anything if they have the desire and ability. Kudos to her for trying something new; I hope it works out for her.

Judge the book, not the author. Remember the old saying.
Do what I say, not what I do.
