I now understand that Alan Shearer was the heart of Newcastle united. Just after he is gone things turn out to be bad for the team. They lost to Sheff Utd and they are among the bottom three teams in the EPL. Long live Shearer. I hope if he turns up for Newcastle he will help them at least!!!

No. Half of Newcastle's problems are they live in the past. Shearer was a great player who has had his day. Newcastle now need to look to the future.

Why? he,s had his day, accept it and move on, Why not bring supermac back to play alongside him, jees you geordies are desparate for shearer to be at the place in whatever capacity, if you want your club to move on get over the shearer syndrome. what did he win in the game at that so called big club? he had his best days at Blackburn, also, if you deduct penalties and free kicks from his goals tally he looks no more than a run of the mill ordinary striker.

I might have imagined it - I don't follow football well beyond the basics - but didn't Shearer have some sort of injury which speeded up his retirement? (Apologies if this is totally incorrect.)
If that's the case then no he shouldn't come out of retirement - although right now anyone with two feet might be an improvement! :oP

I only wish he would unfortunately age has caught up with him. I think hes a legend,he remained loyal to Newcastle and now we must hang on in there. They have been plaqued with injuries, but I do not know why someone cannot get it right there, it is a big club just going nowhere. Things can only get better we hope.

He busted his knee when playing against Sunderland last season, which saw him end his professional career there and then. He returned to take a penalty in his testimonial, but you could tell that he just isn't up to it anymore.
Even if he did come out of retirement I doubt he could help Newcastle very much.

Big Al's been great for us but he's the kind that's firm on his decisions as evident with his handling of his involvement with the national team, so I think everyone should accept that he's hung up his boots for good.
Anyway even if he comes back to help the team, he couldn't play for us forever. It will still be up to the manager and the current squad members to work together to get the club back on track.

No he is definintely over the hill. Even he would struggle to score goals in the present team. They have been unlucky with injuries. They have all of their main strikers out and no team can cope with this no matter how good they are.

You have a very valid point. It is shocking that Newcastle cant find any good goalscorers.
