but it still gets wavy & I'm afraid someone is going to trip.The rug used to lay on a similar pad but it was on limestone floors & I never had a problem.thanks for advice.

put some velcro on the bottom of it near the edges.

Hanging them on the wall I can understand but to me It's a bit unusual to want to use a 'beautiful piece of art' as a floor mat.

I would try double-sided carpet tape, available at most hardware stores for just a few bucks.
