at department stores or places like jc penny, Kohl's, sears, nordstrom, and Parisian they should have a prom dress section with a variety of dresses.

what kind of long dress???? vintage? go to a resale shop.. this is a perfect time of year to find them with the holidays coming up. you can shop all stores at the mall or better yet get on line to look first .... it will save you time
