I really dont know what kind of rock you meant, but all of those bands I named are very accomplished rock bands in the rock world. I didn't even come close to naming them all but those are a good few.

hmm.
if you like more mainstream rock, then
1. red hot chili peppers
2. the beatles
3. switchfoot, yellowcard, etc.
if you want more obscure rock, then i would suggest:
1. the dresden dolls
2. the soup dragons
3. gogol bordello gypsy punks(though this is VERY weird, so unless you want to be utterly confused...)
4. a band of bees (they incorporate a lot of funk into their music, but they do pretty much anything as far as genre goes.)
5. reel big fish, aquabats, less than jake( i'm sorry but the world needs more ska)
6. soul coughing
7. blonde redhead
8. sonic youth
9. grape digging sharon fruits (i dont know how much stuff they have out, but you can find them on myspace. i think their name is grapediggers.)
10. modest mouse. (how could i have forgotten them?)
these are just some bands i would recommend, you might not like all of them, but they're all pretty different, yet can still be considered "rock".
