I don't think that is cool. I think that each and every one of us is doing the best we can and I am sure that he has done a lot of good as well as bad for his people. It becomes none of us to gloat over anyone's death.

Peace!

It is highly unlikely that Saddam's hanging will be shown on TV for a variety of reasons. Just consider them

1 As a Sunni he is still widely supported by that faction who despise the Shi'ites, the people Saddam persecuted. There would be immediate reparation against the Shi'ites and occupying forces probably with many deaths and widespread rioting. Saddam will be seen as a martyr.

2 Hanging is a very undignified way to be executed with the victim often contorting and with the relaxing of their muscles passing excrement and urine,

3 The process of hanging is pretty barbaric. Saddam will be visited the night before by the hangman who will weigh him and measure the girth of his neck and examine his vertebrae (backbone). He will then calculate the amount of drop needed to kill Saddam. If he gets it wrong Saddam will either not die instantly and writhe about in agony or his head will be torn from his body. If the former there are men waiting below to grap his legs and pull until he chokes to death. Ideally the drop is supposed to break the neck and sever the spinal cord so as to cause instant death.

4 The body is left hanging for twenty minutes before being examined by a doctor to pronounce death. During this time urine and excreta will run down his legs.

5 The process of hanging is as follows :- The condemned person spends his last night in a cell next to the gallows. He is usually allowed a meal of his choice befor the hanging adn a visit from a priest or muslim equivalent. At the appointed time, if no stay of execution is received, his hands will be bound behind his back, his teeth removed if they are false and he will be dressed in a loose fitting uniform. He will be led to a door connecting the cell with the execution room. Once through the door the hangman will be waiting. As soon as Saddam walks through the door the noose will be placed around his neck, a hood placed over his head and the trapdoor activated. The whole process from entering to hanging takes around 20 seconds. The hanging will be filmed for archive purposes and to prove that Saddam was treated as humanely as possible. He will also be photographed. After the hanging his body will be placed in a plain wooden box and removed. To save his grave becoming a shrine he will be taken away, probably at night-time and cremated.

Anyway to answer your question, if it was televised I would watch it. It is no more than he deserves, and it would be a fitting end for a tyrant who has been responsible for thousands of deaths and creating misery for millions.

No even though he may have done some horrible things. At the end of the still is a human being like you and me. I don't care who the person is no person's hanging death or any other kind of death should be casually shown for the masses as he desperate struggles to stay alive. Somewhere in there a sense of morality is lost. Why would anybody want see anyone die as a matter of fact. It will not in any way change the past so it must in someway give the person watching some kind of self satisfaction and that is sick.

Yes, Because this is a principle called: catharisis "psychology".. You feel that "this is the end of evil" and "I'm safe, I'm alive!".. This gives you a push to work and raises your consious as it tells you: this is the end of evil...

Saddam has done many evil things, I don't hope we'd see his death.. here in answers I expect that we are good people, trying to learn and help each other.. I Hope That all terrorists and Tyrants see this end.. and learn...

No, I would not. Interesting to note that almost 7 our of 10 said yes. I would suggest to them to do something more positive to their lives than to watch the tube.
The follow on question to those who would watch, what aspire them to do so? Is there nothing better to do?

no that's terrible. I don't know why anyone would want to watch someone die. I believe the guilty should get what they deserve. but if that punishment is death, and you get joy out of watching them die what mentality does that put you in. I'm not saying they shouldn't die but, to enjoy watching someone die hmmmm.... sorry its just not my cup of tea............Addition(after some thought) I do think about how we have to watch thousands of innocent Americans die whenever they show the crashes and the towers fall ..over and over again....and I think about those who lost their sons and daughters husbands and wives in desert storm and now in the current war...so although I would not watch I will not judge those who need the closer.

I have seen many answers to your question. Most of them were " yes". Personally, I do have an answer for you. It is "NO"
First of all, Your Question doesn't have any humanity touch. If sadam was your father, would you like to watch it ? Politically you can't agree with somebody. But you can't ask question like this. This question surely be reported soon

no, he did lots of terrible things to other people but i dont agree with the death penalty. There must be other ways to punish people. killing anyone does not teach anything good, especially to children, who will grow up thinking that its ok to kill.
