I have a radio essay to do, and have contacted a few radio stations without them getting back to me, so im hoping someone here can help please.

For Radio 1, Do you think they need any scripts for shows other than the news?

How would i obtain work within Radio 1, and if i had a programme idea for example (or a play on another radio station - for example Radio 4) how would i receive royalties and who would pay me for my royalties etc?

If you could help on any of this, i would be sooooo grateful!

Thanks :-)

If you have a radio essay to do, may I suggest you cover the UK offshore radio (pirate) stations of the 1960s. From Easter Sunday in 1964, until August 14th 1967, there were several radio stations beaming programmes from ships at sea and from old Thames Estuary forts. The best known radio stations were Radio Caroline and Radio London the latter of which was by far the best. There is a great deal of information about these stations on the net and both of the above stations now broadcast over the web.

I would suggest you go to www.bbc.co.uk and work around their site and see if there are any vacancies within the organisation for work with R1 & R4. By approaching them directly, you would then get to know the criteria by which they accept both solicited and unsolicited material. I wish you well.

Yes, they all use scripts, and if you have written something, a script for example, then rewrite it if you have put in the usual commas and things. Radio is done with dots. ..., short pause, ........................, longer, you get the idea.

On that, and if you have an idea, see that they sign an NDA forst, non-disclosure agreement, toprotect your idea, they are iused to this, then spill the beans.

Break a leg, as it were.
