Medicating him for an unknown allergy doesn't really make any sense. It is much safer to eliminate the allergen.
Also if the allergy medicine isn't working then you either need to switch to something else, or it isn't an allergy. Why continue to give him a drug that isn't working. In addition mixing zyrtec with anything, particularly a cold medication scares me. This is just a little tiny baby. Please talk to a doctor before mixing drugs like that and consider the stress you are putting on his body.
Also if you live in the North the last 3-4 weeks is probably when you turned your heat on... maybe it is something in your ducts? Maybe just a humidifier would help?
Did he start any new foods 4-5 weeks ago?
Also 10 months isn't too young for allergy testing to be done, there is some question as the the accuracy but it is better than nothing. Or you could try just giving him breast milk / formula for a week and see if he gets any better. (Babies with a history of family allergies sometimes do not start solids until after 1 year, I assure you he will not starve in one week)

A lot of people my disagree with me, but I was told that I had allergy's and had to take Zyrtex, Claritin and all that other stuff. Well, I did some reasearch on this stuff and these drugs usually make the allergy worse. When I quit taking these drugs I started to feel a lot better. I know that you can't do this to a baby, but I did a colon cleanse and a intenstinal cleansing and started eating a more organic diet. I feel so much better and I don't have to take those allergy pills anymore. If you can, you may think about taking your baby to a homeopathic doctor and see if there is something else they can try. In traditional medicine they would rather cover up the systems then treat the disease(in my opinion). If you like get the book: "Cures They Don't Want You To Know About". He also has a new book out which I haven't read yet, but I'm sure its just as good or even better. I hope that your little one is ok. I wish all the best to you.

Could your child be sensitive to dust or pollen(depending on the season). Does his problem only occur during a certain time of the day or at a certain room? Maybe you could try an air purifier to clean the air in the room. Zyrtec does not necessary work for all allergies and it may not really be wise to take too much medication for such a young baby, especially for a prolonged period of time.

If the medication is not taking away his symptons then it is probably not the right diagnosis. I would consult another pediatritian, or call any nurses hotline. Also is your son teething? The constant runny nose may be a symptom of his teething. my son had fevers, runny noses you name it. Just when I thought he was really sick, oops there would pop in another tooth. Just another option for you to explore.

When he gets medicine for allergy it should take the symptoms. If it doesn't then it must be something else that makes him sick
