I am having difficulty securing employment. I am looking for a full time job with a benefit package. I am currently working pt on the weekends. I have completed 16 interviews in the past 4 1/2 months. I am becoming depressed that I will not find a good job. Good meaning a M-F office job (clerical, file clerk, receptionist, admin. assistant). Any advice on what I may be doing wrong? I follow up with the interviewers and I send thank you notes. I realize it is a very fierce job market out there and need advice!

I have an associates of applied science degree from a local business college. I ask for $10 - $15 per hour. I am not asking for much. I do not have a tatoo, wild hair. I have shoulder length hair that is styled in a professional style. I have tried temp companies, etc. I am thinking that I am not coming across as very enthusiatic (sp). I may need to work on this.

I'm in your same shoes apart from the fact that I'm in Italy and believe me here is as hard as there

Do you have the skills for such a job? If not, then go to a local vocational or jr. college or pirvate fast-track school and brush up on your computer skills. If you have the skills, then perhaps it is your wardrobe, tattoos, wild hair - an appearance problem. Are you asking for too much money?

Go to an employment agency and get tested on your skills, resume writing, and interviewing techniques. Try some temp jobs with them at first if that is what it takes to get some experience on your resume. It is a start and often leads to a permanent job.

Ever apply for a job with county or city you work in, they have benefits, pay might not be that great to start with. As far as doing something different, that is the way it is, hard to get a good job. Hard to even get a bad job sometimes. Try getting with a temp agency, get your foot in the door, the place you work for might like you and take you on full time, plus you will get valuable experiecne. Best of luck.
