I think that whether the "fun and games" stop when someone loses an eye depends on who it is losing the eye. Especially when you're dealing with siblings....

The expression, though, is supposedly from wrestling matches in ancient Rome. Those guys took their wrestling seriously, and the only way to get disqualified (and end the "fun" of the match) was to gouge someone's eye out. I can't validate how accurate this story is, but that's what I've heard.

You should try and get on with your brother.Sounds like you have been scrapping or having a carry on!!! I always wanted a brother or sister, take your mothers advice and be more careful.I always say it will all end in tears, and it usually does.

Its more of a joke then because it shows their stupidity in playing with fireworks.
Of course, if the firework is thrown, the idiot who threw it deserves the full impact of the law and not a mere 'community sentance'.

Next time tell "In the valley of the blind the one eyed man is king." That will confuse her. And yes it is fun.

One way to make the game a bit safer would be to wear safety glasses... then your mom can't say anything about it.

Of course it's fun! But don't come running to me if you break your leg! And stop crying, or I'll give you something to cry about...etc... :)
