You can use pretty much any paper you want. You can stain it in one of 2 ways, first to stain overall place a sheet of paper in shallow pan and add strong tea mix (boil a bag or two in a seperate pan). Allow papaer to sit in tea for 30 minutes, then remove and allow to air dry (or use low heat oven if your in a hurry) Second way is to get a tea bag and dip into hot water for a minute, Squeeze out excess water, then blot or smear on paper until you have the effect you want. Again, allow it to dry.

I helped my grand son dye paper with tea. We used the non acid paper and black tea. Put the paper in a flat pan. Add 2 black tea bags and hot water to cover the paper. It took a little time but, it worked. He made a book that looked antique for a school project. Got a good grade too.

I did this in school.
Maybe we did it wrong, but all we did was take a (Lipton?) tea bag out of the hot water, squeezed most of the water out and dabbed the teabag on the paper.
The paper wasn't anything special. It was to make the paper look aged and it came out nice.
Is this what you were asking? Hope it helps.
