Why not admit that both sides are doing a crappy job of representing the American public and need some serious replacements.

I doubt it because they truly have no sense of history or their place in it. That place is the dungheap and they won't be able to change because the stench has permeated their souls. They are rotten to the core and are incapable of understanding the world as it is. They truly want to recreate the world as their warped minds see it.
