Be honest, do you think you are smart? If so, why? What makes you smart?

I consider myself to be smart to a certain extent. After experiencing life around a group of people (who were not very trustworthy) I have learned to keep my eyes and ears open and to be careful who you trust, because the people who say are your friends might one day turn around and bite you in the @$$. Which was exactly the case. I used to get C's in elementary school but in high school, I got As and Bs. Of course, my husband is WAY smarter than me, he has a lot more knowledge about the world than I do. so I guess I am smart in some categories, and not so smart in others. =)

God, how can I answer this without sounding conceited? lol
Well, I'm well educated and was in the top 10 of my class in Architecture school. I've got a GREAT paying job with lots of freedoms. I'm a good judge of character with lots of street sense, I'm charismatic and know when to laugh at myself. I plan ahead, pay by bills, live up to my obligations and always set realistic goals & expectations. I'm passionate and very well informed about politics, I could rival anyone in a debate. Finally, I'm full of useless information about anything and everything; an effect of reading newspapers and literature everyday I guess.
So I guess you could say I think that I am.

I think I am smarter then some in some categories. Not as smart as others in certain categories. But I don't consider myself smarter then anyone in anything, or not as intelligent as anyone in the world on anything. So.
I guess the answer your looking for is yes. I consider myself smart based on most of the decisions I make. I also consider that I have grown in intelligence by reading lots and lots of books, and learning as much as I can when I can.
I just wanted to clarify in the beginning there, that I don't think I'm "smartest" at anything.

Each of us is smart in different areas. I'm smart. I have a genius IQ (138) and qualify for Mensa membership, though choose not to. But I only know so much and only in certain things. Each of us has room to learn and we can never know everything.
Some people are book smart but have no common sense. I like to think I have both, though I do have a much easier time taking tests. But I don't know everything and the more time I spend in school the more I realize how little I really do know.

I used to think that I'm very smart, that was before I got married twelve years ago, but it seems each of my two pregnancies took a piece of my mind, now, as a housewife and a mother of two I feel that my mind is not working like before, I hate the feeling that I'm useless to the practical and working world.

I esp. think I am smart when I am drinking.
I do think I am smart, I 'get' things when other people seem not to get it. I understand most things and I strive to learn more.
I bet you are smart by the mere fact you asked the question.
Something else that makes me smart is I read everything I can and if I don't know about something I take the time to learn about it. Also, I am smart because I sound smart and people seem to respect my opinion.

I think I am fairley smart now,probably i always was but just to insecure to know it.Education I have, but the main reason i feel that i am smart is because i have real good gut feelings about things.If it don,t feel right i don,t do it....I think about things before i do them and therefore I feel like I have good common sense,and common sense is what makes you smart.I know highly educated people ,that is really dumb about other things....Hope this answers your question.

Describe smart.... Book smart? not really.. a C student here.. Wise due to life experiences??? definitely.. I may not remember my algebra, but.. I stand my ground and hold my own when comes to life..

I am one of those people who has tons of useless information in the back of my head but if you asked me to explain cosmetic force or political prop for voting. Forget it.

yes i think i'm smart book wise. common sence its not all there. you know what i mean. because of my lack of common sence i get called stupid. i'm not i actually am very smart. people just don't see my work and they just see me with my friends and we have a fun time acting like retards.
