My son is 15 months old. I was a smoker before I had him, and obviously during my pregnancy before I knew I was pregnant. I attempted to stop smoking once I found out, I was successful in cutting way down to 2 cigarrettes a day for the first couple of months. ( I would smoke them half at a time) By the time I was 5 month I had stopped completely. Smoking does affect your unborn baby, everything that you put into your body gets filtered to your baby. So just take it slow and dont stress. The stress is worse on you and your baby.
I took it slow and steadily decreased. My baby was born happy and healthy!! Good luck

Yes and yes.

Q: Does cigarette smoke get through to the unborn baby?

A: Yes, when the mother smokes, so does the baby. Smokers take in poisons such as nicotine and carbon monoxide (the same gas that comes out of a car's exhaust pipe). These poisons get into the placenta, which is the tissue that connects the mother and the baby before it is born. These poisons keep the unborn baby from getting the food and oxygen needed to grow.

In addition, pregnant women who smoke increase their risk of early miscarriage.

Contact your local American Lung Association (ALA) at 1-800-LUNG-USA(1-800-586-4872). ALA knows how to help pregnant smokers stop smoking for good.

Yes! Smoking can absolutely affect your unborn child and can cause a miscarriage! As hard as it will be, you should stop cold turkey! Everytime you take a puff, so does the baby. And there tiny little partially formed body can't take it.

it can cause many harmful effects on your unborn baby. including miscarriage, low birth weight, preterm delivery, immature lungs, allergies, asthma as well as many other things. it would definetly benefit your baby and yourself to quit smoking.

Talk to your doctor or call the nurse line, I have heard it both ways to just stop cold turkey and to just cut down. I am not sure which one is right. So ask the professionals.
