AFI is probably pretty good cause "boy who destroyed the world" is on the playlist on the game "tony hawk's pro skater 3"

Nu metal (which has nothig to do with Metal) or pop-punk (which sounds nothing like Punk).
At least that's what my Little 14 year old friends listen to while they skate board. the stuff sucks but it seems to be the "in" thing for skateboarders.
Ignoring what's "in" I'd suggest you listen to some good Melodic Metal like Children of Bodom, Blind Guardian, Dragonforce, Finntroll or Iced Earth.
Skateboarding is a really active sport and these bands really get you moving.

growing up in the 80's as a skateboarder we listened to the following bands when thrashing. suicidal tendancies, black flag, circle jerks, jodie fosters army, old non sucky metallica and others but that should get you hurt.

punk rock like anti-flag or the dead kennedys or the OLD AFI i mean OLD when they sing songs like Over Exposure....anything hard core i guess
