There will be corruption with or without religion. Religious people that are involved in corruption are more obvious because of the hypocritical nature of what they are doing.

Nope!

Considering that America is the most religious nation out of all the developed Western nations, the idea that it lacks total religion is really quite unfounded. Unless you're talking theocracy and believe me, that'll never happen. Besides, even if it did, that theocracy would become corrupt, too, and then what? Don't tell me you'll say that religion made America corrupt.

Corruption exists because people in power get too comfortable with that power and refuse to give it up or admit that they're human and make some very public mistakes. Religion is no different. Look at the Vatican and what they're dealing with. You think religion's immune to corruption? Hardly. I'm sorry, but when we've got a religion(more than one as I do know of at least one example in a Protestant church where this has gone on) that covers up centuries of sexual abuse and sends offending priests to places where they're less likely to be reported, well, if that's not corruption, I don't know what is.

Ultimate power corrupts ultimately. It goes to people's heads, they get drunk on it, so to speak, and refuse to let go, even when it's painfully obvious that they need to. Riches, comfortable living, full bellies, security, all for little effort, they don't want to let go of such a decadent lifestyle, so they'll do anything they can to hold onto it, even stooping to illegal means and worse.

That's why there's corruption, not because of Satan or a lack of religion. Human nature and selfishness. Period.

No, because the government is too big and trys to do too much. If you have unlimited government power there is no limit to corruption. Corruption is always proportional to the power of government. The founders of this country were well aware of this and set in place limits to the power of government.

Over the years these limits have been crossed and the result is an increase in corruption. Legislature regulates everything from the gas mileage on your car to the gallons per flush on your toilet. These over reaching regulations provide law makers with the leverage to extract "contributions" from industries, labor unions, and various interest groups.

A little more limited government would limit the amount of corruption.

No there is corruption because there are greedy people who worship the almighty dollar.

How would forcing religious views down anyone's throat equate to corruption, or to stop it.

Seems to me like their are as many corrupt Christians, as Athesists, as Moslims, as Buddhists, as Hindus.

Corruption supersedes religious lines, it is a people problem, not a worshipping problem
