What is acutally the difference between an Librian and a research assistant ??

It would depend on the context, and while you didn't really give enough for me to answer with certainty, I will venture forth an answer. At least in an academic setting at a college library--my college library--librarians hire graduate students for various positions. These graduate students have the title 'graduate research assistant' and may do a variety of tasks. They are educationally speaking at a lower level position. I was a graduate research assistant for four years while I pursued my library degree (MLS). However, all that being said it may vary from library to library but my guess would be that the difference would be one in education level.
