When I go to www,showmyip.com it gives me different IP, and when I configure my IP in command prompt it gives me different, Why is it so? Pls help if someone knows the reason......

In ipconfig........I get
Connection specific DNS suffix...
Ip Add............10.......
Subnet Mask..255....
Default gateway ....10......Its like same as IP
where as whenever I'm connected to net and check my IP It shows like 203.....which almost same every time..

It's probably because you're set up under DHCP. This means your IP address changes every time you connect to a network, instead of using the same one every time.

Like it was mentioned before, your router would show a different ip, your router gives you a subnetted ip. Meaning a branch off your original.
Also your ip wont neccessarily change each time you connect to a network. DHCP settings allow lease times. They can last anywhere from a minute to 8 days, Depending on how they were configured in the first place. The only time it would change other than expiring would be if you manually released the ip in order to connect to another network.

Yes, every house on the street has a different number, or else the mailman and the firemen would all go to the first house if they all had the same number!!!

So, every time your computer sends a packet of data, it is like a letter, but, the server that handles each different protocol or data form could be diffferent!

Like, Google.com has 100,000 Linux computers and they all cannot have the same address!

are you running through a router? then theres 2 IPs. One from your actual ISP and one from the router giving yur PC it.

depends on your type of connection, modem, router, etc. why are you so interested in your ip anyway it dont do nothing for you personaly unless you know what you are doing with it, ie direct connect to another pc, (remote desktop connection)
