80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

Life is a description of how an organism corresponds to the environment. The more correspondences an organism has with the environment the longer it lives. This means that the more complex an organism is and the better adapted it is, the longer it lives. People strive to exist under any circumstances and because humans can exist in most environments on the earth (we use technology and our intellect, examples of correspondences, to be able to travel to any environment). Because of this correspondence humans can live (even if only temporary) anywhere, even space. This means that life, or correspondences to environment, is alterable. This should explain a bit about life, and perhaps give some insite to the human ability to alter its own longevity.

I think you are asking for the purpose of life.
It is different for everyone. You chose your purpose. Get up and live it and discover it. Find things you enjoy to do and do them. God Bless you and peace be with you.

Life:

ETYMOLOGY:
Middle English, from Old English lif; see leip- in Indo-European roots.

If you ask philosophically, what or "wat" (sic) is life there are so many books and studies on that question that in your "life" span you would not have the time to read them all. But I think an excellent grasp of what is life is presented in the famous line:

"To be, or not to be, that is the question" - WS

Simple, yet profound, this statement, or question, indicates that
Life is Choice of that question in every action and moment. Will I be healthy or not healthy by this meal that I eat. Will I choose to be love and be loved or will I not be loved because I will not be love. Will I choose to be joyous or choose not to be happy. Will I be a person of faith or will I not be a person of faith. And on and on it goes the choice of life to be or not to be alive and living and being or not.

If you ask more of "wat" is life in the form of definition or biology:
