average per year in America is 15K miles... which comes out to 1250 miles per month. You have had your car for six full months (assuming you bought the car at the beginning of May, if you bought at end then you've had it five full months) and put on 9K miles in 6 months. Average would be 7,500 miles, so you are slightly above average usage.

Well, the car's value is definitely rapidly depreciating due to the high mileage, but if you plan on keeping the car for a long time, there's nothing wrong with it. I drive about 150 miles a day, so I understand where you're coming from. If I only go somewhere local, I try to ride my bike or take the bus in order to reduce pollution, especially since I drive so far to school.

Well, here in So. Cal. the rule of thumb for driving is 15,000 miles per year. Your still good for another 6,000 for Nov. & Dec. If you think your driving too much, try consolidating your trips. If you need to go to someplace, is there any other job that you can cross off your list at the same time? Can you take local public transportation on the weekends or to work? Can you car pool with someone?

Not in Southern California- my husband drives 150 miles a day round trip- thats 400.00 a month in gas and he's not unusual. I however drive about 50-100 miles a week into town and being a sports, pickup kids Mom in my Xterra. It all depends what you are doing, mostly its not a choice-your choice is the quality of the vehicle and gas mileage on it.

If you bought the car it's O.K. But if you leased it your screwd. Ask yourself this do you plan on trading it back or getting another one in a couple of years?
