I am so glad that South Africa is finally allowing people from the same sex to be married. Although i will not be useing this right, i feel that it is a vital need in order for South Africa to call its self a democracy. How can we say that everyone is equal if someone is not allowed to be married to the person he/she loves. I get so annoyed when all those religiuos activists protest this law. I meen its not like SA is telling them to change their religion at all. and anyway didnt the bible say that all Men are equal befor the lord (capital M = all people). I read a letter from a guy that has the same opinion as me in the newspaper recently, and i was like, take that! ha ha ha!
What are your opinions????

I dont believe there are people here that say things like "shun South Africa"!!! That is the most hateful thing i have read so far here. What if the speaker himself was a south african in his next life??

But yes, same sex marriages should be allowed. After all, its a personal choice and the government should not have a say in it as they can be doing better things! We are all equal, SA or NA!

I think marriage is supposed to be between man and woman. You use the Bible to prove your point, but I will use it to prove my point. All men being equal before the Lord does not mean that two of the same sex should get married. On the contrary , the Bible mentions several times that sex between two men are not approved of by the Lord and hence I don´t think they should marry

Marriage, opposite to three different solutions, isn't approximately procreation (although, we are quite keen to maintain attempting to make a toddler if it makes them chuffed XP) and not the only belongings of the christian or the different faith. Marriage is a promise of dedication and provides advantages to the two events. i could like my courting to be acknowledged, i decide directly to be acknolodged and given each and all the rights that a guy could get in my place. 2 human beings in a loving, committed courting is a marriage. we are already getting married and function been because of the fact the start of the human race. extraordinary now we only decide on the healthcare and social and criminal advantages that would bypass with it. <3

First of all, you mentioned that the Bible states that all Men are equal before the Lord. You are taking that totally out of context. If you read on through the Old Testament, God destroyed Soddom and Gomorah---why do you think that is? Homosexuality is wrong in the sight of the Lord. He created woman for man.

Democracy has nothing to do with allowing people of same sex to marry each other. Democracy is a man made law, and the principle of marriage is given to us by God. Men and women are made as a pair. Women are made for men and vice versa. If same sex marriage was permitted by God Almighty, then why would God create women for men or men for women?

In fact, people who go beyond the perimeters that God created are extremists and cruel(to their own selves)

I am sorry but i don't care one bit who marries who (i have a gay daughter) but i don't wanna hear about it .There is a reason why same-sex marriage will probably never become legal .Im just hoping that gay people realize that nothing is gonna change , making them able to marry.Quite simply it comes from the Bible !Don't they know that!

I personally do not care whom marries whom. It does not matter to me how many or what sexes determine to enter into a marriage. I think as long as all are of legal age and are under no pressure to make such a commitment, then it is fine.
I also submit that our nation spends a lot of time and effort arguing these issues because it is easier to spout moral judgments than address serious problems like the war, health care, child care and education.

What is marriage? Is it holy matrimony? Is is a partnership contract?

Personally I don't have a dog in this fight. But to make a logical fair decision we need definitions. If we are talking holy matrimony, game over, no religion supports gay marriage. If we are talking legal contracts and bucking tradition we are going to have to be fair to all alternative lifestyles. Bigamy, incest, whatever.

I agree with you--I have a gay son, and he is not allowed to sanctify his commitment in the law's eyes.
He is in a better relationship than MOST hetero marriages I know of--he should be allowed the legal rights they have.

I agree. No one chooses to be gay — it just happens. Therefore, if they can't control their attraction to people of their gender, they might as well get married and not sleep around.
