When you get your piercing, make sure they pierce your ear using a sterilised earing or stud.

(If you don't want to feel any pain, then buy a numbing spray to use just before you pierce your ear! If it's not available hold an ice cube to your ear instead!)

Regularly clean your piercing with surgical spirit, and don't remove you earing for atleast 2 weeks, until it heals completely.

I'd go with a professional (not some bimbo at 123 in tha mall). Use a hollow sterile needle and a surgical steel piercing. Rubbing alcohol to sterilize this site first(let it evaporate). My best treated piercings I used Celtic Sea Salt mixed with water. AND DON'T play with it or touch it until it's healed. Professional Piercers hate when people do that in their stores by the way and some will chew you out and kick you out. The gun takes way longer to heal and it's a weaker piercing!!!

honestly, get it done by a professional - it won't hurt half as much! But, if you really feel the need to pierce your own ear, use a hot needle and clean it with lots of salt water. Make sure you sterilise the gold or segical steel stud you're going to put in it!! Clean it EVERY DAY with salt water, you nutter!!
Good luck!

You should see a professional for that, someone who has a license. It's not safe doing it by yourself, you may cause harm to your senses, tissue, etc. The list goes on. And it dosen't cost much to get it done by a professional, atleast you know your in good hands. Plus they may give you the bacterial substance for free, which helps your ear to not be infected. Or they may recomend you to buy a good product.

seriously - its so much easier to get your ear pierced properly at a professional beauty place. if they are a good place - they'll give you a bottle of stuff to prevent infection included in the price.

Don't listen to the others.. to do it yourself you need half a brain cell - if you have more than this then I would go along with the others and say get it done professionally

Do not do it youself. Go to a salon barber or jeweller. Stop infection with surgical spirits or pure alcohol.

Go to a professional to get it pierced and they'll tell you how to look after the hole whilst it's healing.

Someone qualified to pierce your ear for you, please don't do it yourself.
Once it's been pierced they usually tell you what to use on it, but Savlon have a new wound wash spray which is good.
