Because we were founded by Puritans and religious zealots who have passed on their distaste for sex and such. They apparently have no problem with violence, they were burning "witches" at the stake years ago.

If you are gloating over this finding , wait!
Sex in general, be it media hype or within the four walls , is a private affair. It happens to an individual or to a small group. You are democratic country and you can do anything... almost anything... in your private home.
voilence , on the other hand happens outside and involves persons other than just you. There , the State comes in to protect the lives and the properties of the public.Law takes avery firm hand on such violations. Thus Americans are very law abiding and rightly so.
Unfortunately law and Order are not so rigidly implemented in many other countries and that is why you see a lot of voilence.

Keep the beautiful sex behind closed doors for heavens sake! No wonder young middle and high schoolers are practicing it so diligently instead of studying!
Violence and sex are both outrageous things to show on TV!

Both sex and violence are about survival and so they get our attention.
Sex is important to get your genes into the next generation and thus one of the most primal drives.
Violence is important to defend ourselves against those who may want to kill us. At least for most of our evolutionary history.
Maybe it is something as simple as Americans want to defend our way of life more than make more Americans.

Having traveled all over the realm plenty, i discover us people to be prude while in comparison with Europeans, yet no longer while in comparison with maximum different components of the international. additionally, the cities interior the U. S. tend to be liberal, and the agricultural components extra conservative. those fundamentalists in my u . s . of course exist, yet I relatively have relatively met very few of them, as I lived in cosmopolitan components interior the U. S..
