Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) covers a lot of makes/models of small electronic devices -- which can include in this descriptor the Palm Series and the Pocket PCs.

The Pocket PCs have the same functionality (like running the Pocket Windows Software, Pocket Office Software, have wireless internet capability built in, along with normal PDA functions like scheduling, tracking actions, etc) as your laptop -- except -- like its name -- it fits in the POCKET of your purse or work coat, or in the hand. This is the type of PDA that I use, as a Financial Manager, and even for my own personal time. The ability to manage the data, to work portions of my spreadsheets, and to develop word processing files is VERY important to me -- likewise, the ability to view the digital images I take too.

The Palm Series (in my own needs) are not as capable as my Pocket PC -- the software is not easily transferrable in format to a standard laptop or desktop PC -- but if all you need is a scheduling function, some simple tools -- then the Palm Series is the one for you.
