You can distress jeans (worn cuffs and pocket edges) with a Dremel tool - you can find it at Sears or Home Depot (this is what my husband used for holes and distressing). Some people say you can also use sand paper or steel brush for distressing and a razor for cutting, but I don't have experience there. The Dremel worked really well. Good luck!

I've found that the best way is to BE VERY CAREFUL and use a sharp knife or razor blade, maybe even a utility knife. Take the knife and do not cut actually the jeans but more like shave the material away. Take the blade and scrape it against the material kind of in a motion like you're spreading butter... but shaving away. By doing this it will leave the white threads in tact. Make sure when you're "shaving" that you're going along the grain of the material. It takes longer than just cutting into the jeans but it looks and works a lot better. You can also use this methods on the pockets or seams just to "roughen" them up a little bit.

Don't try cutting jeans with scissors. Try using a cheese grader it will look just like the American Eagle jeans

My dad always jokes about pants like that. He's had one pair for a long time and they have holes in them now and he says he's stylish because that's what's in right now, it's funny.

If you have a seam ripper handy or a very sharp skinny knife you can make a 3 inch slit in the pants and then tug at them a little bit, wash them and they'll be as good as...new... :-)

If you want worn spots you can try a rough stone, or pumice stone and just rub the area a lot, and then wash.

Easy, take a knife and slit two holes in the back of your jeans.
