They still want to cash in on the popularity of the Bond movies and the original was not a Bond film. I think it is the only Fleming book they have not made a Bond film from

The original was a 1 hour b&w for television with an American actor Barry Sullivan. Then they made a satirical comedy with many actors in it. This is the first real attempt at the origianl storyline ever.

the film is not a remake it was the first bond to be filmed for tv only this is the first time has been seen on the big screen.

Because the original film of it was (a) not part of the official Bond franchise, and (b) one of the worst films ever made.

I thought it is because sequels (and remakes of popular oldies) usually make more money (profit - not necessarily gross more) than the originals.

The old version was not a REAL 007 one , it was more of a spoof with a lot of comic actors in it and 007 died in that one
