Ok im sorry that you are too young to be in the show...
but here is some advice if you wannt to survive in theatre later in life....
lose your cocky "im amazing at theatre" attitude. If you dont people wont like you and youll end up being made fun of and talked about. Directors can pick up on these attitudes and wont cast you in things

My feeling about this is that although you may not be thinking about it now, you're 11 you have a lot of time to be in plays where there is no age restriction. You have the rest of middle school/Jr. high and highschool and possibly college.
My advice is to go with your mom. NOT to ask her to push you into the play because either way someone will resent it and remember it next time. But have her go down so you, she and whoever is running the show can talk about why it is that they think kids under 13 are too young for the show.
Look being prepubescent and a teenagers is tough! There are going to be lots of times when you're going to be told you can't do something because your are too young, too old, too short, . . . the list can go on from there. The thing is to ask why you are too young. What it is that a 13yr old has that you don't. This is why I say have your mom come with you so she can help you with anything you don't understand. Also remember that someday you will be 13 and who knows by the time you are a senor in highschool your school may do that musical and maybe you'll get the lead. Look although the grass is always greener on the other side. One day you'll be on the on the other side helping someone else understand what you didn't at this point of your life. Life is not always easy or rewarding. We don't always get what we want and it can suck sometimes but going through it's ups and downs is what life is all about and fiction and life seem to mirror each other. Right? So when you're grown a bit more you'll be ready for something you weren't ready for when you were 10 0r 11. Cheer up! Go to the play when it's playing and learn from the experience and the production! Good luck. And remember that without obstacles we would never know we could overcome them and be better for it!
Good luck and I would love to hear back from you!

dont worry, if you confront the audition panel/ director about your problem in a confident polite manner, i'm sure you could get in . if it's for 13-18 year olds you should remember that they are probably going to be quite experienced. even though im sure you are a very good actress, dont get your hopes up to high. when you talk to the director, make sure to state your reasons in a polite and friendly way. if you dont get in, then try again when you are 13. i hope you do get in! break a leg!

One: PLEASE tell me what this theater is called. Two: have your parents talk to the people in charge....if they are already very familiar with you, they may make an exception. Three: remember that there are like, 50 people going for 4 parts. You may not get the part you want just because you're younger.

Its okay it happens to all of us. Just look at me resume...Oh, but first i should mention that i could play any part in any play. ANY. I could play an ant, I could pay little red riding hood, i could play hamlet...ive never even heard of that play before, but it doesnt matter. I can do opera, i can do commerials, i can sing soprano, I can do my own stunts...Im that versatile. Leading man, leading lady, gay, ingenue...you name it, i can do it. Thats how great i am. Well you might notice on my resume that i have never had a part. Its a real comment on this sick business we are in isnt it?!? An actor this good...and he's blackballed *thumps chest*! And why? For refusing to show up at auditions! Auditions are beneath me. I wipe my feet on them. People should be begging me to grace their theatres, producers should be asking me to audition them! But those egomaniacs who should bow and scrape before me...they forced me to betray my principals, and start going to *shudders* audition...So no no, dont blame me for memeaning myself in that protesque position...Ive waited ten years for them to come crawling...but suffice it to say there were too wrapped up in their own insane...trivium to get the hint. But enought of them...who cares!?! You know what? All the parts. I should have all the parts in any play ever! Capiche? Now, before i forget here is my resume...what do you mean time to get off the computer? I havent shown her my resume yet! What do you mean "now"? Where do you get off saying "now." I typed this thing! I had to beat up an old lady with a cane to get the right paper! And i still had to wait at the checkout for 20 minutes! I WANT TO SHOW MY RESUME!!!!!!!!!!!!
LO|L hope this cheers you up!

If you can pass for age 13, go for it! Don't tell them your age unless they ask. Pretend you don't know the rule.
