If you ovulate late will it make your period late? I am charting my bbt and it look like I ovulated late and I am a week late for my period, negative preg test. I have had much higher bbt in the mornings since the predicted ovulation?

There is only one day a month that you ovulate. You can recognize this day by the consistency of your discharge, which will be like the egg white. Before ovulation the discharge will be more wet, which can keep the SPERM alive for the egg at ovulation and conception will occur. After ovulation the discharge will begin to change again it will be less like the egg white, which can keep the EGG alive for sperm and conception. So, in one month there are only 7 days where you can become pregnant 3 days before your ovulation day, on the day of ovulation and 3 days after your ovulation. This method is called " Dr. Billings Ovulation Method" it's very accurate, but you must study it and then study your body. You can find it in any Christian book store or Catholic book store. BBT method is not 100% reliable, I'm assuming this is where you take your temperature.
P.S. you are probably not pregnant.

Yes. Your period comes 12-16 days after you ovulate. If you have been charting your BBT you should see a pattern over a few cycles. Your luteal (post-ovulation) phase should be a fairly consistent number of days. For example mine is usually 12-13 days long so I know to always expect my period about 12-13 days after I ovulate.

By the way if you are charting BBTs that is not a "predicted" ovulation. The BBTs confirm ovulation when you see a sustained temperature rise (more than 3 days). But I guess you can say "estimated" ovulation... sorry to be nit-picky about your choice of words but I didn't want you to think that BBT predicts, because it doesn't :o)

There is nothing wrong with you.Ovulation can be irregular and thefollowing cycle. Read below

The menstrual cycle is made up of many changes that take place inside the body. 6, p. 16 A These changes help prepare a woman’s body for pregnancy each month.6, p. 16 A The progression of the cycle from one to the next is caused by the rise and fall of hormones throughout a specific interval, usually about 28 days, or one month.7, p. 195 But while the typical menstrual cycle lasts 28 days, it can range anywhere from 21 to 38 days, and it can vary from woman to woman. 3, p. 381 D The period can also be irregular during the teenage years, and the years before a woman begins to experience menopause.3, p. 384 A

Late ovulation will cause your cycle to be longer than usual. Count from the date of ovulation. If you are 16-18 days past ovulation, then test.
