school? Does it make you sad when you see them drop out and after years pass they still don't have a diploma and have a big smile on their face?

Students who would rather stay out of schools probably have emotional problems and learning problems. Very often, teachers do not have the time and capacity to help all students in trouble and we do see many of them drop out of school after some time, not equipped with life skills that would help them make a decent living.
It is SAD.
But let us stop just thinking about it and do something. Listen to the students (yes, don't just talk to them, listen to them), let them tell you what they really think about schools, help them see value in staying at schools, HELP THEM SEE VALUE IN THEMSELVES.
And of course, as teachers, we should reflect on our teaching practice too. Let us make the classroom more engaging.
*sigh* I think I sound a bit too idealistic in this answer.

not a teacher. but if you asked me when i was in school: would i rather be locked up inside a dark boring house OR get some fresh air with friends outside, although it'd be a busy street? I'd pick being run over by a car. Besides the fact that i have been run over and didn't even brake a bone. just scrapes.

When you see someone who dropped out of school and years later they have a smile on their face, it is usually because they are high on drugs. Dropping out of school is for losers. They can't get good jobs, they can't support themselves, and they wind up wasting their lives.
Kids who are smart and ambitious stay in school, get good grades, go on to college, get a good job, and have a better, richer, more secure life.

That's the way the system is supposed to work, and most of the time that's the way that it does work.
