I first started watching NASCAR when I was dating my ex-boyfriend, who was a racer at a local dirt track. That was '87-'92. I wandered away from NASCAR after we broke up, but I still watched the Indy 500 each year, and I got intrigued by the guy who was running the Indy 500 and the CocaCola 600 on the same day in 1999. I've been a Tony fan ever since. =)

I can remember when NASCAR Grand Nationals (now called Nextel Cup) raced on dirt tracks. And the race cars were bought off the showroom floor at the dealer. I can remember when the Daytona 500 was held on the beach. One straightaway was on the sand and the other was on the paved road that ran along the beach. I can remember when the Hudson Hornets were the car to beat. Drivers wore T shirts, not firesuits, and wore leather helmets.

I'm a 2 year fan, but I know all the terms and rules. So, I guess I'm an "in the middle" fan because of my NASCAR knowledge.

I have been a fan ever since I can remeber. The only difference is as people have either died (dale sr) or retire (rusty wallace) I have learned to love other people but I will always be a dale sr. fan. I am a huge Dale Jr. Michael Waltrip fan and a Tony Stewart fan. I will always be there fans no matter where they are. But I will also be someone elses fans someday.
