my friend recently sent me a text after I helped her. she said on the text that ' you are a true friend' to me, I was extremly happy to hear that she considers me a good friend. But we have known each other for just one year. Now I meet her less often that we used to because I changed my jobs and had less free time....My question is how long do you think it is nessesary to become true friends. Is time not important? and do you think she said that sentence casually?

They usually say it takes at least three years.

She might have been using the phrase "you are a true friend" as an expression of speech. Still, from experience having two really close platonic friendships with women in my life, I can tell you that a friendship between a man and a woman DOES seem to develop faster than one between two guys. I think guys take a longer time to know one another and to trust one another.

I'm sort of wondering if you have begun to like her more than a friend.

I'd ask her about the true friend bit. As a girl, she may actually mean it, just as much as she would with one of her female friends. Girls will talk about things like that (without being offended) much more easily than guys.

Good luck, buddy. You sound like a good kid.

it does depend on time and when u think so true friend , u remember all that moments of your life in which he or she had helped u out, the time which u were alone and want anybody to whom u can forget your pains and this type of attachment u cant think that it will force u to say that your friendship is not of that which u think before, as i think when u r away from your friend then your friendship must become more perfect and u will remember that person that , i wish he must be here for holding me and just taking all my pains and make me out of it . I think your friend will always miss u at those moments.

A true friend is one who tells you openly your faults, keeps your secrets, stands by you in times of need and will do anything to see you succeed in life.

i don't think time is important as long as you value all the time you spend with her. and remeber just because she thinks you are a true friend doesnt mean you have to.

To became a true friend doesn't deal with time, just as love, love doesn't deal with time

to became a true friend depends on you and your character...

but most importantly, you are a true friend yourself that's why you're "A True Friend to your Friend".
