On Friday, January 31, 1606, Guy Fawkes, Thomas Wintour, Ambrose Rookwod and Robert Keyes were taken to the Old Palace Yard at Westminster and hung, drawn and quartered "in the very place which they had planned to demolish in order to hammer home the message of their wickedness." The last of the four to suffer his appointed fate was Fawkes...the "romantic caped figure of such evil villainy." A spectator to the scene later wrote:
Last of all came the great devil of all, Guy Fawkes, alias Johnson, who should have put fire to the powder. His body being weak with the torture and sickness, he was scarce able to go up the ladder, yet with much ado, by the help of the hangman, went high enough to break his neck by the fall. He made no speech, but with his crosses and idle ceremonies made his end upon the gallows and the block, to the great joy of all the beholders that the land was ended of so wicked a villainy.

RE:
How did Guy Fawkes actually die?
I know they burn a guy on top of the bonfire at Guy Fawkes, but did they actually do this to him, or did they just imprison him for trying to burn down the Houses of Parliament?

On 31 January 1606, Fawkes, Al Roth, and a number of others implicated in the conspiracy were tried in Westminster Hall, and after being found guilty, were taken to Old Palace Yard in Westminster and St. Paul's Yard, where they were hanged, drawn, and quartered. Fawkes cheated this fate in a way: though weakened by torture, he jumped from the gallows and snapped his neck rather than being hanged until almost dead.

Guy (or Guido) Fawkes was unfortunate in that he was only involved in the plot to bring down the government because he was skilled in using gunpowder. He was discovered in charge of 36 barrels of gunpowder, connected to a slow fuse.
Under torture he signed a confession (you should see it - he hurt so much he could scarcely write by then!). The rest of the plotters were rounded up and all condemned to death. Fawkes was hung, drawn and quartered. Very nasty.

None of the other answers are correct.
Guy Fawkes started a firework factory supplying shops and supermarkets all over the world.
He retired at the age of 43, moved to Costa Blanca where he can still be seen to this day lazing on the beach eating ice cream.

Guy Fawkes was imprisoned and tortured. He confessed to the plot and named his co-conspirators (Thomas Wintour, Ambrose Rookwod and Robert Keyes). On Friday, January 31, 1606, they were all hung drawn and quartered.

He was imprisoned initially, but not for long. All the imprisonned plotters were executed publicly in March 1607. They were "hanged, drawn, and quartered", a brutal practice which authorities hoped would instill terror in other potential traitors. It involved ripping out the entrails of the condemned men while they were still alive and burning them before them. It is incredible to think that this process would attract a rapturous crowd of spectators!
N.B. Condemned criminals were hanged, not hung. Game is hung to make it more flavoursome before cooking.

He was hung, drawn and quatered. Ever seen 'Brave Heart', that's what they did to him at the end of the film. Oh, and Guy Fawkes and his fellow conspirators tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament, not burn it down. That is why it was called 'The Gunpowder Plot'.
