Because they are inconciderate to the people and cultures around them- thinking that the world should bend to their whim. The United States raises their people to understand that "freedom" is the freedom to do whatever, whenever and however they like, even if it presses onto another persons rights or cultural beliefs.

By the way, I AM AMERICAN. (We suck.)

I'm an American and vacationed in Florida over the Summer. While in the checkout line at a souvenir shop there was a family from England who were very rude and arrogant. They loudly and openly commented on people's tattoos, make remarks about lesbians, and generally make derogatory comments about everyone around them. I found this very offensive even though I didn't say anything. I felt I should have and could have but I didn't. My girlfriend and I had some good laughs though at their expense throughout the remainder of our vacation. Sorry if you feel that way about us, but we're not the only ones.

You must be living in Iraq. We do own the place, the loud noise we make is from a bang stick and unless you want to be a good Iraqi you'd better run.

Tourists from abroad often visit us in groups, and they talk to each other, so doubtless they will be making more sound than one or two `natives` walking down London streets alone. I am sure they do not make excessive noise, it is because they are together and their accent is different, that they just appear to be noisier.

They are probably just enjoying themselves. Can't say that English people are quiet. Then S-Africans also talk loud and when they walk around also talk loud, why should it worry you. Acting like they own a place is just silly, they are just comfortable with themselves and enjoying life. They also bring lots of money into the Uk and be grateful for that.

Don't confuse Texans with the rest of USA. They are the loud ones
Some t-shirts: for and against:

"You can easily tell a Texan, but you can't tell him much"
"And on the eighth day, God created Texas"
"If you are good and say your prayers, then when you die, you will go to Texas"

Have you ever been to Ibeza? I can't even begin to explain how obnoxious and arrogant the Brits were.
If I tell you that our plane landed at two in the morning and they went straight to the bar, suitcases and kids in tow, never mind their rooms, it might give you some idea.
We used to go to bed at 8, knowing we'd waken at 11 and go back to sleep at 3 in the morning!
If you want rude - go British!

We're American. Nothing else matters.

I'm in the Louvre, admiring the artwork, when, three galleries over, THUMP! THUMP! THUMP! I hear them.

The biggest, loudest herd of overfed heifers.

"Hunny, hunny, hunny! Just look at all this fruity french art! Whut in the hell is that crap?"

How can I turn invisible?

I think they're just loud and over the top as a nation! Some people love it (at least they're friendly) but many reserved British people find it annoying!
