Yes I would wake your baby up, or either put him down for two little naps rather than one long one, then they will sleep more at night. I have a 3month old and a 5 year old and a 6 year old, and I still have to wake them up from naps when they get home from school, or else they are up still midnight and wake up earlier which isn't good becuase then there just tired in school. And once you start waking your baby up everyday, he will start to automaticly only sleep for that long. There are times your baby will need more sleep though, when your baby goes through a growth spurt they tend to sleep alot more, but that shouldn't last more than a week. baby and people have an automatic timer in there head, but for babys you have to train the mind first, hope this helps god bless you

Pick one of his naps and reduce it. My kids worked out of their morning naps by 1 year of age. It will take about a week before they work into their new schedule. Also, you may want to try and put your child back down again at 4:30 and tell him, it is still night time. Sleep is important to a new mother.

Perhaps your baby is ready to transition from two naps a day into one nap a day? Maybe try to keep him up from his morning nap and then lay him down at a time right between the two naps. If he's been napping at 10 am and 3 pm -- try keeping him up until noon and then laying him down and letting him sleep as long as he wants.

my mother helped me out with this problem when my son was little, here is her advice. When little one is ready for a nap during the day allow them to sleep for just two hrs, you then must wake them up and feed, change them. Long walks during the morning will help get them to nap and you can get your errands done too. Then at night before bed time a warm bath, bottle will help them sleep through the night, after a long day out and about and alot of play time activities, little one will be so tired....good luck

I don't think their is anything wrong with trying to put a nine month old on a schedule. Sometimes children play hard and need a little extra rest, but if he's not sleeping nights definitely wake him up from those long naps.

I am afraid you are not properly aware of the child's metabolism. It is growing up and believe me growing up is a tiring exercise needing long spells of rest. So if the child sleeps at any time don not repeat not disturb him for some havkneyed ideas of child upbringing. Just because your beauty sleep may be disturbed at night do not keep him awake during day for long hours so that he passed out during night. Children's clocks run on different gears and it is wise not be fool with them. If this involves your keeping late hours well that is the price you have to pay for being a mother and should not grudge it. Do not repeat not set out a regimen for it. You may bring out a irritating child.

if it disturbs him from sleeping through the night then you should not let him sleep so much.
