No matter what anyone says, after you have a baby your body is never quite the same. Some people seem to bounce right back and other people like me end up with stretch marks. With lots of exercise, it can make a difference how flat your stomach can get. However don't go into being pregnant thinking you will look the same afterwords - it just won't happen - something will be different - if not your stomach, your boobs, your thighs, your arms, etc. Personally I don't care what anyone says about c-sections, I would rather take my chances and have the baby naturally. I am right now pregnant with my second and yes I did get a few more stretch marks, but prior to getting pregnant I was looking pretty good despite already having one kid. I have faith in myself that with some exercise and eating right, I can look good again (no one says I look bad now anyway). Just don't expect to look like you did prior to ever getting pregnant or like you did when you were a teenager or you will be very disappointed. Having a baby means you sacrifice something, and your body is the first thing to go!!!

Unfortunately, from experience the answer is yes. The cut along your bellie seems to cause a fold that won't go away. If you lose the weight after pregnancy, it will only be a little bump, but if you ever gain weight, it will become a fold..... ugh. Time for a tummy tuck. On the other hand, don't risk your baby if you need a C-section. Raising a disabled child is a life long challenge. C-sections are given to prevent the loss of oxygen to the brain, which can cause many types of disabilities from mental illness to cerebral palsy.

It is a lot harder. Since it is surgery, the muscle is cut through and scars over and is much harder to tighten up.
For the record, the c-section itself is not that bad at all. I've had two, and yes you're sore for a while but it's by no means the end of the world. Of course I wasn't able to chose a c-section (mine were required) but I'd take c-section over vaginal delivery hands down.

Having had both a c-section followed by a vaginal birth, let me tell you that a vaginal birth is so much better for you and your baby than a c-section. A c-section is MUCH more painful than a vaginal birth. Having had both, I just don't understand why women think a c-section is easier than a vaginal birth. A c-section is major abdominal surgery and it hurts afterwards for many days. A vaginal birth with an epidural is pain-free. I even had 100% natural for my vaginal delivery which did hurt I'll admit, but still even natual childbirth hurt less than a c-section overall. It hurt while I was pushing, but immediately afterwards I felt great. With a c-section I was groggy for days, medicated for the pain, my uterus hurt, I had to have a cathetar to pee. Give me vaginal birth everday. I know women who had epidurals who felt NOTHING during delivery.
This may be too much information, but let me tell you that it hurt so much worse to push out my first few bowel movements after a c-section from my weakend sore abdominal muscles than it did for me to push out a baby. Trust me on this one.
But to answer your question, I got my flat tummy back after a c-section. A flat tummy is the least of your worries if you decide to have an elective c-section. If you're up to sit-ups to get your tummy back into shape, you're also up to doing kegels to get your vaginal muscles back into shape too if you're worried about that.

No it has nothing to do with it.You get a flat stomach by useing your stomach muscles. But you will have an ugly scare left. That never goes away.I know I had a tube removed and it is still there and not pretty.Plus having a c section takes longer for u to recover. If u don't need one don't do it . They other way is alot less painful.

After you're PG then your body definitely isn't the same. You can get lots of your looks back, but your body definitely isn't the same.
A C-section definitely doesn't help.
Having to take care of a kid while balancing the rest of your life doesn't exactly give you hours to spend at the gym either.

I've been able to get it "flatter" but not tight. But I also had two more surgeries where they cut along that same line. So my poor muscles just aren't right anymore. I just shoot for the trimmer look, and have given up on the sixpack quest!

my wife has had two c-sections and when they cut they ended up cutting some muscle. With that it has made it impossible for her to get a tight stomach again
