The search for "popularity" during adolescence is one of the most difficult times in Westernized societies. Imaginary hierarchies based on trends, styles, and consumer advertising create the yardstick by which youth struggle to measure themselves. Fear of being outside the popular circles causes some young people great anxiety and internalized doubt. Maturity begins when people understand that all of this is much ado about nothing. When a young person begins to become confident and calm in living out their own unique life in keeping with their values and interests, then the endless chase for popularity finally stops.

They will follow whatever is the main style around the school..style of clothes and music, they will probably think over highly of themselves and put people down when they can, just for their fun. They probably wear the clothes rappers wear, that is the kind of popular style at schools now. And they are very ignorant, and usually care about how they look to other people more than their own education..and that's why you get a lot of good looking people that are really dumb..because they are selfish. They follow other so much that they get pushed above those who they copy.. if not all the other copiers will be more popular.

In my grade, the popular girls are a main three that everyone's afraid of, and then there are about 15 more girls who are just as popular, and they're all friends with each other. Then there are the popular boys. They mostly only associate with the popular girls. Yeah, there's a lot of bf/gf recycling in that group. In the grade above me, however, the popular kids are way different. They're the rocker type, like all of the guys are in bands. The other half of the popular guys are the extremely good looking ones. And the popular girls are just a group of about 5. But in this grade, there's not really a popular and unpopular. They're all pretty chill and get along with each other just fine. BQ: Me? I'm kind of a floater. I'm friends with the popular kids in my grade, but I don't hang with them. I sorta do my own thing and they'll come by and say hi.

well a "popular" kid would be the one who walks around thinking they own the school and everyone in it. it's all a big contest for them to see how much better they can get than their friends. they dress a current fashion that they think is the coolest. but they can be very nice.
