I was crossing a very tall bridge last year going from Del to Maryland going toward pasadina anyway knowing my own fear of heights I never look down or out at the water well as I looked ahead they were doing bridge work about half way accross they narrowed road to the out side lane and I then realized I was giving my self a panic attack because the traffic was moving so slow and I had way to much time to think about just how high we were. In a panic I made my 1st mistake I came to a complete stop and asked my father to take over my second mistake was getting out of the car to exchange seats with my dad bad move for someone like me especially when your at the high point of a bridge with the wind and everything else going on well I woke up 20 min. later my dad was trying to get me to the hospital.
A panic Attack is a very real and scary thing to experiance the fact is I was having a panic attack the moment I saw the bridge but I was in denial and what I should have done was pulled over before even getting on the bridge and exchanged seats with my dad its immportant to know thy self and your own limitations yes I have crossed that bridge since but would i ever cross it if there was bridge work being done on it
Helllllll no

This is a very common fear, especially among women drivers. I have heard of people being so afraid they froze, and stopped up traffic.
